so, i noticed that i didnt put up a picture of my Camera Obscura from Fatal Frame 2...
so here it is...
What I used:
- Black, Gold, and Brown Acrylic Paint - 1 cm wide brush - a paperclip - scissors - a q-tip - an Agfa Ventura 66 Deluxe Camera from ebay - a silver sharpie - various sources for the 12 symbols on the lens
so what i did was of course find and buy a camera that looks fairly similar to the camera(i recommend a ventura or isolette 2 from Agfa.)
while waiting for the camera in the mail, i bought the paint and such and looked for the symbols.
i think alot of people get confused with what symbols and how many symbols there are on the lens but i REALLY paid attention to what was on it. i actually switched two of them and had to paint over it but...8P
when i got the camera, i painted a layer of black over everything. then, mixing brown and gold, i painted the "bands" over the top and bottom of the camera.
next, using the same mixture, i added more gold to make it a bit brighter and made the designs on the bands with a q-tip that i cut(i used the stick not the cotton.) The design is almost like a mushroom shape...I'm not sure how to describe it... oh, and i also paintd the edges of the two "knobs" at the top of the camera...
next, I used a silver sharpie to make the swirled designs on the sides.
then, I took a paperclip and tediously made the symbols on the lens with just gold paint...i had to write REALLY small...
then the last step was making a really dark copper color(all three colors) and, using the brush that is partially dry by then, dab, little by little, lightly on EVERYTHING to make everything darker and more aged.
most of the camera should look like tarnished copper, while the silver swirls should be lightly visable.
also, for the extra touch, i made a mixture of really dark copper and, again, lightly dabbed the hinges and such to make it look rusted.
anyways, thats how i did it, and i hope that couldhelp anyone make a really nice camera obscura..
im thinking of making another one and selling it on ebay so, if you really want one, just leave me a message...
This thing is really awesome! My friends and I were just talking about how we were gonna make one. We desided to see what other people did and BAM! your devanation poped up to our rescue. just paint it carefully and not in between the places where things move..(e.g. INSIDE hinges, hinges where the back of the camera opens, etc.)
